South Pacific Cruise - Day 9
Wellington, New Zealand

Day 9 of the #epicadventure brought us to the New Zealand capital of Wellington. The city is a great combination of Seattle and San Francisco. The weather is cool, the vibe is chill and the city is bustling. A compact city, it encompasses a waterfront promenade, sandy beaches, a working harbor and colorful timber houses on surrounding hills. From Lambton Quay, the iconic red Wellington Cable Car heads to the Wellington Botanic Gardens. Strong winds through the Cook Strait give it the nickname “Windy Wellington.”
Our day started with a short debarkation form the ship where we walked into town. It was a windy day as we covered most of downtown seeing Parliament, the museums, the harbour and enjoyed lunch at a fun little pub. The cable car to the top of the city is a must do. You get a great perspective of Victoria University of Wellington and the views of city are amazing as long as the coastal fog has burned off.
After our day of adventure, we set sail at about 5 to depart leave the cool climes of New Zealand and begin the tropical swing of our adventure. We’ll spend the next 5 days at sea as we head north towards Tahiti, including a crossing of the International Date Line.
