From its inception as a private estate to its present-day status as a Four Seasons resort, it has consistently offered an intimate, exclusive experience that transcends typical notions of luxury.

As soon as you arrive, you are instantly charmed by the resort’s colonial-style architecture and the expansive ocean views. It wasn’t just the verdant Versailles-inspired gardens or the pristine, never-ending beachfront that mesmerized me, but the attention to detail and the dedication to maintain its historical charm while providing modern luxuries that left a lasting impression.

Residing in one of the resort’s Garden Cottages, you find yourself in a private world of comfort. The elegantly designed suite offered spacious rooms, beautifully crafted furnishings, modern amenities, and a private patio, which quickly became my preferred spot for an evening Bahama Mama as the sun set over the sprawling tropical garden.

Dining at The Ocean Club was a culinary journey of epic proportions. From Dune, Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s oceanfront restaurant that blends French-Asian cuisine with a dash of Bahamian spice, to the poolside Versailles Terrace that serves a rich array of Bahamian seafood, the resort satisfied my gastronomic curiosity at every turn.

And then, there’s the luxury of the resort’s wellness offerings. The spa at The Ocean Club, with its extensive menu of holistic therapies and treatments inspired by the local environment, provided a sanctuary for the senses. A day of pampering followed by a meditative stroll in the labyrinth garden of the cloister was a rejuvenating experience I’d highly recommend.

Not to be forgotten is the resort’s 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf. The meticulously maintained greens overlooking the ocean make a round of golf a surreal experience. The resort also offers a multitude of water sports and a dedicated kid’s club, making it an ideal destination for families.

What truly sets The Ocean Club apart is the Four Seasons’ unwavering commitment to service. The warm, personalized attention of the staff at every juncture of my stay reinforced the resort’s reputation for exceptional hospitality.

The Skybar, with its captivating sunset views and delicious cocktails, quickly became my favorite spot to unwind after a day of exploration.

The Privilege Pool, with its lavish cabanas and DJ sets, was a vibrant social scene, while the Baha Mar Casino added a dash of high-stakes excitement to my evenings. The resort’s world-class spa, ESPA, offered a range of indulgent treatments that left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

The highlight of your stay stay, however, is the resort’s commitment to showcasing Bahamian culture. From local art installations to Bahamian music performances, and even a flamingo parade, SLS Baha Mar provided an authentic and delightful taste of the Bahamas’ vibrant culture.

The Verandah, Goldwynn’s signature restaurant, offered a remarkable gastronomic experience, serving up local Bahamian dishes alongside international favorites, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Paired with the restaurant’s impressive wine selection and the stunning ocean views, each meal became a sensory journey to savor.

When it comes to amenities, Goldwynn outdoes itself. The infinity pool, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, was an idyllic spot for leisurely afternoons, while the private beach offered endless opportunities for water sports and relaxation. The resort’s boutique spa and fitness center helped me maintain my wellness routine amidst the indulgent vacation.

What truly sets Goldwynn apart, however, is its unique offering of luxury residences. These residences provide a rare opportunity to own a slice of this paradise, making it a unique resort that blends the benefits of vacation and investment.

The staff at Goldwynn went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and memorable. The concierge was particularly helpful, organizing tours and experiences that allowed me to explore Nassau’s vibrant culture and breathtaking natural beauty.

An oasis of sophistication and tranquility amid the larger, bustling world of Atlantis Bahamas, The Cove is where luxury finds its true sanctuary. Cradled between two beautiful beaches on Paradise Island, this all-suite resort is a testament to ultimate indulgence and our trip here was a mix of unforgettable experiences and underwhelming service.

We took advantage of this being a Marriott property and booked our suite stay with points. Upon our arrival, the strikingly contemporary design of The Cove and its captivating ocean views made an indelible first impression. That stunning first impression quickly diminished while we waited for more than 30 minutes to simply get the keys to a room we had already checked into. There were only a few people checking in, yet the process and lack of care amongst the staff made for a painfully slow process.

Our room at The Cove was a stunning ocean suite with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking vistas of the sparkling azure waters. The suite was a marriage of luxury and comfort, with a spacious sunken living area with a pullout bed, king-size bed, and a marbled bathroom outfitted with high-end amenities. The private balcony was my personal piece of paradise, where I savored my morning coffee while witnessing the break of dawn over the majestic Caribbean Sea.

Dining at any of the restaurants at Atlantis was underwhelming at nearly every step. The prices are sky high, as you would expect from a large resort. However, the service and quality of food don’t even come close to matching the prices. We struggled to get servers’ attention at every restaurant. We chocked this up to tips being included on every check, so there was a complete lack of care for nearly every customer interaction. The only great dining experience was at Nobu. It’s clear the staff could care less about the guests. It reflected in their terrible service and lackluster food. 

The pools are why people come here. The Cove’s exclusive poolscape, The Cove Pool, with its chic private cabanas, live DJ, and an adults-only infinity pool, was an idyllic retreat for daytime lounging and socializing. You have to get there early to stand in line to put your towel out on your preferred chair which is less than a luxury experience. After the first day I befriended one of the staff who reserved our chairs for the rest of our stay. That was the best tip I spent on the whole trip. We reserved a cabana on one of our final days to relax away from the crowds. The cabanas are true luxury with a main seating area, dining area facing the pool and a lounge area facing the beach. You also have a private bathroom. The servers were friendly, but follow the same lackluster service training as the rest of the resort with large gaps in attention.  

One of the highlights of my stay at The Cove was exploring the Atlantis Aquaventure. From adrenaline-pumping water slides to a serene river ride, and the mesmerizing marine habitats, it was a fascinating adventure unlike any other. Marcus and I took on the Challenger Slide together. It was a heck of a leap, that left us both breathless.  The whole pool scene at Atlantis was a bit chaotic for us, but if you have little kids this is the place to be. 

If gambling is your thing, the Atlantis Casino, with its sprawling gaming space and high-energy ambiance, provided a thrilling nightlife experience.

No luxury escape is complete without a visit to the spa and Mandara Spa is available. Given our underwhelming experience with the rest of our stay, we passed on the spa. 

The Cove is not just a luxury resort, but a seamless blend of elegance, excitement, and exclusivity. My stay here was more than just luxurious – it was transformative, immersing me in a world of refined pleasures and exciting discoveries. Whether you’re in search of a secluded romantic getaway, a fun family vacation, or a solo retreat, The Cove, Atlantis Bahamas promises an unparalleled experience of luxury and hospitality in its purest form.
