I'm a 50 something father, husband and entrepreneur. I love to travel and experience life in between being involved with my son's activities, and running 4 companies, one of which I own with my wife of 21 years. One month after taking the plunge to do an epic 26 day trip from Sydney Australia to Honolulu Hawaii I had a heart attack. I survived because of the quick actions of my wife and the fact that I had been a triathlete for the years leading up to the event. Now, more than ever before, I appreciate what life has to offer and making time to go experience it, not just dream about it.
Life Is About Experiences Not Things is about sharing travels and insights from the neighborhood and
Quick, practical one for your feed: your phone is designed like a slot machine — every notification is built to give you a small dopamine hit so you check it again. What's less obvious is that research shows simply having your phone nearby, even silenced, measurably drains your focus. You don't need more willpower to fix this. You need fewer notifications. Turn off everything except texts — email, social, news, shopping apps — and give it three days. Most people are shocked at how much attention comes back. There's something that happens when you travel. Your mind becomes free. Your body starts to let go as your chemicals get back into balance.
You need this.
Book the trip and truly unplug. Explore the world and see who you find. It might just be a new you.
